Quarantine: how to make your home cozier

We have never spent as much time at home as we have in the last few months. The pandemic forced the entire world to isolate itself and look within. And this looking inside includes looking at the house where we live. If before we only visited it for meals (many, only for bedtime), now we have spent long periods inside it, including working and exercising. Therefore, more than ever, home needs to be a pleasant, cozy, peaceful place. Below, we have come up with some tips to help you improve your environment:

Functional furniture
Analyze what can be improved in the house. This is the time to make the necessary changes, thinking not only about the aesthetic part, but mainly about the functional part. That closet where the drawer always gets stuck may be causing more irritation than usual, that closet with little space may need organization or even a change, that small kitchen table, previously little used, could be rethought (and this is the time for this). The furniture in the house needs to be based on functionality depending on who lives in it, as each family has a need.

Cleaning
Before, we didn't have as much time to figure out what needed to be cleaned in the house (and we probably didn't get it dirty as much either). Once a week, it is advisable that the residents of the house organize themselves for cleaning. It is even possible to make this a family moment, with each person responsible for one or two rooms, or for a specific service. It is important to remember that cleaning the house is the obligation of everyone who uses it. And a clean space can be much more pleasant for those who need to spend a lot of time there, do you agree?

Organization
With time to spare that we didn't have before, it's also a good idea to think about what needs to be organized around the house. It doesn't all have to be done in one day or one week. Make a list of closets, shelves and rooms that have been messy for a long time. And start organizing yourself little by little. This will also make the house look much better (and, again, functional, after all, it will be much faster to find that pair of socks if they are all organized in rolls in the drawer, instead of mixed up in the closet).

Coexistence
There is no point in having a functional, clean and organized house if the person living in it is not at peace. We are in a period where tempers are very high, so we need a lot more patience and tolerance with those we interact with, so that small arguments don't turn into big fights. Communication between those who share the same space is fundamental.

Leisure and well-being
One of the ways to improve this coexistence is to also have fun moments at home. Organize relaxation activities with your partner, games with children and pets and, if you live alone, moments of self-care. The house is not just a space to perform tasks, it needs to be a place for good times too.

Fresh air
There is a saying that “A house that gets air in, doesn't get a doctor in”, in other words, an airy house tends to keep diseases at bay. Every day, open the windows, let the sun and fresh air in, so that the space is renewed. This tip is even more recommended in times of coronavirus. It's good for the house and the people who live in it.
