Automated homes: how do they help in everyday life?

Automated homes, or smart homes, are homes equipped with technologies that facilitate tasks that previously could only be performed by residents. Basically, the owner can remotely control home systems (lighting, air conditioning, security locks...) through digital means.

The home automation system allows the connection of various devices, which will be programmed to be controlled by the user, generally via the internet (Wi-Fi) or Bluetooth. It's as if the house starts to function according to your habits and needs. On the way home, for example, you can send a command so that when you arrive, the lights and air conditioning are already on.

To do this, the home must have appliances with electrical connectivity, internet and a smart device, such as the famous Alexa. Through an integration system, the equipment is connected to a central controller that allows the devices to be managed.

The main advantage of automation is the practicality and convenience of residents, such as lights and air conditioning. Using a voice command, you can turn on and play your favorite series on television without even having to touch the remote control, turn on the lights, open the curtains and activate the irrigation system while carrying out other tasks. You can also schedule some activities, such as scheduling the coffee maker to have coffee ready when you wake up in the morning.

With automation, you will probably no longer have to wonder whether you turned off all your devices or left any windows open when you left. Using this feature, it is easy to check if everything is in order.

There is also the possibility of having a voice assistant, which helps you with your schedule, sending messages and calls.

Another important point is security. Through devices such as cameras, locks and motion sensors, it is possible to monitor whether everything is ok with the house even far away. There are also smoke and water or gas leak sensors that warn if something is wrong and activate shut-off valves. Furthermore, some systems allow simulation of presence when residents are traveling.

The future has already arrived!
